Settings reference
On this page
Every settings screen, in the order the app lists them.
On iPhone and iPad the root is a list: Alerts, Alert History, Server, Appearance & Display, Scrub, Storage, About. On Mac the same material is split into tabs: General, Server, Appearance & Display, Alerts, Alert History, Storage, Scrub Feel, About.
Alerts
See Alerts and notifications for what these do in practice.
| Row | What it does |
|---|---|
| Set up alerts | Runs the five step guided wizard: permission, posture, subjects, feel, review. |
| Alert notifications | The master switch for push. |
| Notifications are off in iOS Settings | Appears only when the system has denied notifications; links straight there. |
| Status | What the app currently thinks the push chain's state is. |
| Current posture | A readout of what the routing table resolves to right now, plus pause and quiet-hours state. |
| Alert History | The last three routing decisions, linking to the full Alert History. |
| Attention ladder | The subject-by-place grid: each cell is Ignore, Quiet, Glance or Urgent, across Public, Grounds, Entrances and Restricted places, plus recognition relaxation. |
| Cameras | One switch per camera: which cameras may notify this device. |
| Zones | Per-zone place (Public, Grounds, Entrances or Restricted), plus per-subject overrides for that zone. |
| Doorbell rings | On by default: "Someone's at the door" notifications when a mapped UniFi Protect doorbell is pressed. A per-camera pause does not mute rings; only a global pause does. |
| Quiet hours | On or off, From and Until, and whether quiet hours hold Urgent at Glance or only remove the sound. |
| Live Activities | iPhone and iPad only: openings tracking, Live Activity first or Notifications first, a tuning mode, and a demo Live Activity. |
| Sounds & alert levels | Mute all sounds, pick the Urgent sound, and try Quiet, Glance and Urgent. |
| Pause notifications | 15 minutes, 1 hour, or until morning. Becomes Resume while paused. |
| Sync status | Whether your settings have reached the server. |
Alert History
A feed of routing decisions with a filter, grouped into stories showing how many times each mutated and how many devices it reached. Dimmed rows are decisions not to send. Swipe a row to mark it too much or not enough, or to silence it.
Server
| Row | What it does |
|---|---|
| Server URL, username, password | The same credentials form as onboarding. |
| Save settings | Commits the form, switching servers if you changed the address. |
| Test connection | Checks before you commit. |
| Status | The result of the last test. |
| Connection Doctor | The seven-rung connection diagnostic. |
| Copy live diagnostics | On the Connection Doctor page, under Live video diagnostics: copies the record of when the camera page's live picture was switched on and off, to share with support. Clear empties it. |
| Disconnect server | Clears the saved server and credentials and returns you to setup. Confirms first. |
Appearance & Display
| Row | What it does |
|---|---|
| Camera Order | Drag the Live grid into a custom order, or reset to automatic grouping. |
| Shared views | Per camera pair: Automatic, Same place, or Different places, for how Explore groups cameras that see the same spot. |
| Live video tiles | How many grid tiles stream live video at once. Auto is four on iPhone, six on iPad. |
| Time format | How the scrubber writes times. |
Scrub
| Row | What it does |
|---|---|
| Haptic feedback | The taps and texture the reel plays under your finger. |
| Count seconds | A faint tick each second while you drag slowly. Off by default; iPhone and iPad only (the Mac already ticks once a second on the trackpad). |
| Tune Haptics | Shape every tick, click, and texture of the reel. iPhone and iPad only. |
| Scrub Feel | The reel's gain-curve sliders. |
| Hide event controls after | When a camera's newest event is older than this, hide its Previous/Next chips and event card. 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, or 30 days, or Never; the default is 5 days. |
On Mac there is no Scrub tab; Scrub Feel is its own tab, and the Hide event controls setting is not offered there.
Debug builds also carry a Developer Labs section with theme, haptics, and reel-drive tuning. It is not in a release build.
Storage
Storage shows how much each cache uses (HTTP cache, Live Activity snapshots, Push thumbnails, Decoded image cache) and a total. Tap a Clear row to empty one cache, or Clear all caches.
About
The version; Share diagnostics (runs the Connection Doctor once and shares a diagnostics file); Setup guide; links to the Website, Support, and Privacy Policy; and Reset app…, last: it forgets the server, all settings, and zone classifications, and returns to the welcome screen. Confirms first.
Mac-only tabs
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| General | Launch at login. |
| Scrub Feel | The reel tuning sliders (Precision, Travel, Swipe threshold, Event drag, Event scale, Shortest event, and Trackpad) and a Flicks stop at events switch. On iOS these live on the Scrub Feel page. They apply to every camera. |
On the Mac sidebar
Status, Connection Doctor, Alert History, and Frigate Config (read-only, searchable) live under Server in the main window's sidebar, as does Help › Guide.
